The grand, slow-burning new single from Arliston is ‘Hold My Wine’. It’s built on a combination of shimmering acoustic guitar work and warm synth textures that eventually give way to a distant, almost minimalistic beat and a huge, anthemic chorus. The track combines uplifting sentimentality with a playful take on the phrase ‘hold my beer’. On a deeper level, the band explain that “the song is about that occasional moment of recognition when you look up from the narrow corridor of your own thoughts and are seized by the idea that everyone else has progressed and developed, while you are stuck in an unchanged rut. The protagonist attempts to do something about it in the chorus — but inevitably, he gets it wrong.” Their new EP, Even In The Shade, drops on November 4th, 2022. -Dan Peeke.
